Is Cartoon Network being "Male-Dominated"?

Hey, guys. It's been a while since I've posted some stuff. The reason I was on this blog haitus is a long story, but I'm back with something that will leave you saying,"Hmm?"

Have you ever noticed that on Cartoon Network, they have been programing shows that are gearing towards boys? Let me rephrase that. Is Cartoon Nework turning into a "Boyz Only" station?

When's the last time you saw a female character on a Cartoon Network cartoon? It seems like CN is turning against female programing in this era. Shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show and The Amazing World of Gumball have one thing in common(besides their wacky, surreal misadventures.):

The main characters are boys.

There are girls in the show(of course.), but they're potrayed as either eye candy to the male protagonist(i.e, Finn and Princess Bubblegum, Mordecai and Margret, Gumball and Penny.), prima donas who only think about themselves(i.e, Lumpy Space Princess.) or stereotypical teenagers that do very bland, stereotypical things.

Ir's really mind-boggling that CN  is making programing geared toward the male demographic instead of the female demographic. Now, there were a couple of shows that were aimed at girls on Cartoon Network. Here's a short list of girl shows CN aired.

  • PowerPuff Girls
  • Totally Spies
  • HiHi PuffyAmiYumi

Sadly, theese shows don't air on CN anymore. So, what are we going to do with this situation?

Well, I was researching and there was this article by a woman who's concerned with the problem and she had this great idea.

Here's The Link To The  Article:

She had this project called New Chicks on The Block, a block on Cartoon Network that will air cartoons dedicated to the female demographic. If this block was on, I would totally watch it. Would you?

Bottom line, Cartoon Network is being sexist and if the New Chicks on The Block happens, this problem will disappear.
