Gotye Concert, Animes That I've Finished and Other Sassytabulous News

I'M BACK! Did you miss me? It's been a while since I've written in this blog. If you're wondering why I haven't been blogging since my last post is because I had a blast with my B-day, a concert with a certain Aussie and other fantabulous stuff! So, to make up for all of this, I'm going to make a very special blog involving all of the fun stuff I've went to!

My Birthday(With a Limo!):

OMG! Words cannot describe how amazing my 16th birthday was! My mom, my grandmother, all of my cousins and other relatives and my friend Mina all went to a resort. But, that wasn't the best part. The BEST part was that my mom(bless her soul!) rented  a zebra-striped LIMOUSINE and we all went to Fun Spot, the best amusement park in Orlando EVER! There was go-karts, fast rides and funnel cakes GALORE! In the end, we had a very great time that will go down in my life as one the greatest days EVER!

Anime That I've Finished:
These are anime shows that I've watched from beginning to end. If you are a anime fan, you should check these series's.
  1. Baka and Test(Season 1)
  2. Chobits
  3. Ah! My Goddess(Season 1)
  4. Princess Tutu

An Aussie in O-Town(AKA Gotye Concert Review):

Remember my rave on how Gotye was "The best thing to ever come out of pop music"?  Well, on October 8th, I went to see him at the House of Blues and IT WAS FANTASTIC! After a day filled worth of shopping and burrito eating, my mom and I got to see the guy that I obsess every day perform live! The opening acts were Jonti(an South African-Australian man who does the same music Gotye does, but with a twist) and The Givers(A Louisiana based band). While Jonti was creative with his music, his performance was mediocre. However, The Givers were AWESOME!  Even though I was tired and somewhat bloated from eating the food that was served at the venue, they kept me awake with their pounding rock and roll vibe. After the opening acts, HE came and made a entertaining performance and made a fan out of my mom. The only nitpick that I found was that after he sung "That Song", many people were leaving, like they just came for STIUTK and that's it. Aside from that, I had a very good time. Now, if only I could have meet him, then my concert experience would have been 20% more cooler.

And that's all I have to say for now. But, coming soon, I'm going to be announcing something very special this holiday season. This is Sassy Simone saying, "Cheers!"

Gaga For Gotye!

Well, it's been a couple of months since I posted something on my blog. With my 16th birthday coming soon and other stuff relating on family and friends are occurring, it's probably time for me to talk about my newest obsession: Gotye!

If you've been living under a rock, Gotye is a Belgian-Australian indie rock artist/musical genius who is well-known in the US for his hit song Somebody That I Used To Know featuring Katy Perry look-alike Kimbra. It's a song about a breakup, but unlike most breakup songs, this song is more relatable to someone who has had their hearts crushed a billion times or someone who has been through a year-long friendship split. It also features a "he said, she said" kind of vibe to both Gotye and Kimbra's verses. It's sorta like Adele's Rolling In The Deep or Someone Like You, but with a male singer. The music video for it is kind of creative, not to mention odd with it's bodypaint concept, but if you can understand what they're doing, then good for you. If you haven't seen the music video(or film clip, as Gotye refers it in "Aussie Slang"), then go to Youtube and check it out, along with all of the covers and parodies of it.

However, I couldn't judge Gotye on just one song. I did my research and listened to his other songs from his previous albums and all of a sudden, I was in a trance or something. I can't describe what Gotye does in his music. It's like he's this magical musician who makes music that can pierce raw feelings and emotional passion that can bring people together. Also, it feels like Gotye puts alot of effort, creativity and hard work to make him well-known as of today. As a poet myself, I actually believe that he makes excellent stories with his music and tackles subjects and messages that don't focus about going to the club, having a good time, or having you-know-what 24/7. Instead, Gotye talks about tech-manipulation in one song and in another, he talks about messy hearts. You see, I like this type of music because it's a little bit of a break from all of the other music I listen to(i.e. Katy Perry, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, etc). This is also the type of music I'd recommend to people who were born in the early 90's and fans of Sting and Peter Gabriel.

Not only is Wally De Backer(that's Gotye's real name) a fantastic singer, he can also play various instruments such as drums and piano. He also uses a musical fence as a bass in one of his songs. Yes, I said a fence. Can Justin Bieber do that in his songs? I don't think so. Another thing he did was use autotune in a song, too. However, he used it because the song had a futuristic feel in it and his "character" should be this person from a different place singing it. You see, that's how you use autotune in music. You use it for creative reasons, not for the sake of it to cover the fact that you can't sing (I'm looking at you, T-Pain).

Also, Wally's whole life was entirely about music. In fact, when he was a teenager, he would be in his bedroom recording music on his laptop all alone. He was also labeled a "Nerdy Two-Shoes" in high school, but he didn't get beaten up by the jocks(thank goodness). The reason why he was labeled that was because he liked computers and robots and all that other geeky stuff(I wonder if he wore glasses or had braces). Wally actually had a band with his friends called Downstares, which broke up after high school ended. I wish I could go back in time to catch Downstares perform, but I wasn't even born at the time! Anyway, when the band split, Wally was on his own and he decided to make a name for himself by being a copy-and-paster sampler musician and made his first Gotye album entitled Boardface.

In 2008, Wally became an international success with his 2nd album Like Drawing Blood. Then, a couple of years has passed and Making Mirrors made it's debut in 2011, with STIUTK being a #1 hit in Australia, England, Belgium(Wally's hometown) and several other countries. Then, in April of this year, STIUTK became the number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 in the United States, making Gotye the most popular Australian musican to have a #1 hit in decades. Many people here in the US have began to recognize his music and have became fans of his work ever since. If you like indie pop  or if yout want to to take a break from regular pop, you should check Gotye's work out.

Sassy's Handy Dandy Guide To: Bridezillas

When you watch WEtv(The Women's Entertainment Television Network.), what do you see besides the Braxon's reality show and some Sinbad guy that nobody cares about?

Wedding shows, wedding shows and MOAR wedding shows. It has more wedding shows than Food Network has cooking shows.

But there's one show on their wedding lineup that really bothers me to no end. It's Bridezillas.

All it's about are these Bride-to-Be's who act like the biggest self-centered jerks and throw temper tantrums.

Well, I'm going to fix this by making a very simple Handy Dandy Guide to Brideziillas and making it watchable, enjoyable and complaint-free.

Step 1: The Tittle

When you think of the tittle, you think of a big green lizard in a wedding dress. Well, it's a lie because, it's NOT a cool action show. Instead, all you see is a bunch of brides going nuts over stupid stuff that CAN BE REPAIRED! I  think that the tittle should be "Horrible Brdes" instead of Bridezillas.

Step 2: Stop The Bride's Freakouts

Every time my mom watches the show, all I see is nothing but the bride FREAKING OUT over stuff such as their cake's not the right flavor or her husband isn't on time. In order to stop this annoying thing, I think that they should ask the brides to keep it together and take some aspirin.

Step 3: Make The Husbands Stand Up Against The Bride

Here's another thing that irks me about the show. The husbands never put their foot down and stand up against the bride. Instead, they act like their scared and just cringe when their brides act up. Well, here's something that they should do. MAN UP! Tell the bride that if she freaks out, you can just say goodbye to the beautiful marriage.

Step 4: Calm Down!

Like I said in step 2, the brides act like it's the end of the world if the flowers are ruined or the cake isn't the right flavor. Listen, I know that weddings are stressful, but to act up like a little kid is....well, not necessary. And also, this is TV. Imagine what the viewers would think of you if they saw you destroying your own flower bouquet like a 5-year-old. Remember: IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!

And if those 4 steps don't work, there's always...

Step 6: Just Cancel The Show!

I know that this is one of WEtv's most popular show on it's WE Go Bridal lineup, but come on! I don't mind looking at beauiful brides getting married, but what I don't want to see is some bride who's making their wedding miserable for everyone. Not to mention embarrassing themselves on National Television.

And that's my Handy Dandy Guide on making "Horrible Brides" watchable, enjoyable and complaint free.

If you like this, feel free to coment on it. If not, you can just keep it to yourself.

This is Sassy Simone saying, have a nice day!:)

Happy V-day 2012

Happy V-day! Here's a very special peom from me on this very special day.

      Love is...

By Sassy Simone

Love is like your favorite pet, cuddling and licking your face.
Love is like ice cream on a hot summer day, so sweet and sugary.
Love is like the fall leaves, colors changing and falling down to the sky.
Love is like a best friend, holding your hand and cheering you on.
Oh, love is a wonderful thing and there is one thing that I love...
I LOVE YOU!

Have a happy Heart Day with your very special someone! ~Sassy Simone :)
